Thoughts and Projects

Here’s where I share thoughts and describe some of my current writing. Please get in touch if you’d like to collaborate!

I’m reviewing this fascinating new book by Eric C. Walker on adoption in the Romantic age. Especially illuminating chapter on Austen, and others on key Romantic figures who changed the way we think about families.

I’m reviewing this fascinating new volume of essays edited by Michael Demson and Regina Hewitt! This book explores both canonical and non-canonical British Romantic writers in their relation and resistance to legal traditions. Review forthcoming in Studies in Romanticism.

I’m excited to have published my essay “Frankenstein and the Progress of Civilizations” in the October 2024 issue of SEL!

My essay on Hazlitt is coming out in this incredible new book edited by Yasmin Solomonescu and Stefan H. Ulig. So grateful and happy to be in this book among a group of stellar scholars of the Eighteenth Century and Romanticism!

I published a review of Carmen Faye Mathes’s book Poetic Form and Romantic Provocation in the Keats-Shelley Journal. This is an exciting and beautifully written book about how Romantic poets crafted forms that engaged combatively with their audiences. Recommended reading for everyone!

Just reviewed this wonderful book of essays edited by Tilottama Rajan and Joel Faflak! My review is forthcoming in English Studies in Canada.
I reviewed John Bugg’s wonderful book for Modern Philology. It’s a fantastic exploration of peace as political and aesthetic construction. Read my review here: https://www.journals.uchicago.edu/doi/full/10.1086/726192
